At Glatfelter, we embrace our responsibility as a corporate citizen. We not only believe in this philosophy, we invest each year in environmental improvement measures. Our environmental initiatives achieved global recognition in 1999, as our Spring Grove, Pennsylvania Facility became the first pulp and paper mill in the United States to receive ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system.
As the following examples will show our Schoeller & Hoesch facilities in Europe are striving to minimize the impact on the environment during all phases of production, storage, transportation and end use of our products:
" In Gernsbach, we succeeded in achieving an extremely high level of waste water purification. In addition, we have been able to reducer the production of off-quality paper and energy consumption."
" In the Philippines, we only use regenerative annual plants to make long-fibre cellulose used in our products."
